Storm Chasing
This
web site contains links to and details of storm chasing activities. Storm chasing
is dangerous and only undertaken by those with many years of meteorological experience.
You must not set out to chase thunderstorms at any time and experts always
suggest that indoors is normally the safest place during severe weather.
Some articles
within this web site are obviously written in such a way to stimulate the reader
of spectacular severe thunderstorm events. At times, the articles may sound inspiring
or exciting. We, Michael Bath and Jimmy Deguara, are fascinated by thunderstorms
and chase those storms not in our area or that display better features. In setting
up our storm chasing system, a report on how the storm chases should take place
was written, which includes safety precautions. We always aim to place ourselves
in the safest possible position with respect to the severe part of the thunderstorm.
We do not chase in the way depicted in the movie "Twister". We chase
storms at our own risk and do not rely on anyone for advice.
We are not associated
with, and do not receive support from, any professional organisation for storm
chasing activities.
This disclaimer
is written to protect both Michael Bath and Jimmy Deguara (based on all data in,
and links from, this web site on storm chasing) from any legal action. Any person
or persons chasing storms using the methods described in any of our pages, and
injuring themselves or others, damaging their property, or that of a third party,
does so at their own risk. Again, we discourage anybody from storm chasing
activities.
Meteorological Accuracy
We are not associated with any meteorological agency, and have no professional experience
in meteorology. If you wish to contact Australian meteorologists, please do so
at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.
Both of us have
been observing, studying and recording the weather for many years and feel we
have a very good working knowledge of the topics covered at this web site. However,
reporting is subject to inaccuracies or omissions, mainly due to our limited data
gathering network.
