Moderate flood levels are expected to be exceeded at Lismore tonight and the possibility of a major flood peak exceeding 10 metres should not be ruled out with more very heavy rainfall predicted to fall over the area for the next 12 to 18 hours. At this stage, moderate flooding is also expected in the lower Richmond River Friday night/ Saturday morning. For further information contact the State Emergency Service - phone 132500 River Height Predictions Lismore - exceed moderate flood level [7.2 metres AHD] around 10 pm 1/2/01 - exceed 9 metres [AHD] around midnight 1/2/01 - possibly exceed 10 metres [AHD], with major flooding, early Friday morning, if the heavy rain continues as predicted for another 12 to 18 hours Bungawalbyn Junction - exceed minor flood level Friday evening 2/2/01 - reach moderate flood level [4.5 metres] Saturday morning with further rises possible if the heavy rainfall continue Coraki - exceed minor flood level Friday evening 2/2/01 - reach moderate flood level [5 metres] Saturday morning with further rises possible if the heavy rainfall continues The Upper Richmond RIver still require more rainfall for river levels to exceed their respective minor flood levels.
